Treat yo’self

Treat yo’self

During motherhood we have been trained to put ourselves and our health LAST.

We literally go through the hardest thing, making a whole human being, and are expected to put all of our wants and needs after everyone else’s.

That is doable for a little while, but not sustainable.

How are we expected to take care of tiny humans if we don’t take care of ourselves regularly?

I don’t mean just a shower alone or going to the grocery store by yourself.

I mean doing a self evaluation on your physical, emotional, and spiritual necessities and doing what you need to do.

It’s a hard lesson to learn and I want to help y’all learn it way before I did!!

So, first easy step is to close your eyes and think about one thing that would help you that you haven’t been able to do since beginning your mom role, or haven’t been able to do nearly enough.

Is it a trip to the gym? Pedicure? Coffee with a friend? A date with your spouse? Appointment with your counselor? Splurge on some health supplements or a new outfit? Buying your favorite protein powder instead of the crap at the stores to save a buck? There’s no wrong answer. the only wrong answer is doing nothing.

Second step is a little harder. What can you do to make this happen? Asking a grandparent to watch the kids for a bit? Hire a babysitter? Look for a gym with a kids zone? Get creative in order to make it happen!

I would love to bounce ideas around with you to help you to reach your goal. I know sometimes when things get crazy, everything seems impossible and overwhelming. I can help talk things through with you.

However you are feeling, you are not alone. Drop a comment below with your one ☝️ thing you would like to do or “need some help” if you need help figuring it out.

My head isn’t really in it (this blog) this week.

Because life.

Because I’m a full time working mom with a baby that still gets up every 2 hours at night.

I’m tired, I’m spread thin, and I’m just barely making it.

Laundry needs to be put away, dishes done, toys picked up, etc etc etc. The list of things to do is always there, it’s just a bit longer than usual right now.

I’m currently writing this while nursing my daughter. There’s always something to do. So this page has to go to the back burner. I have tiny humans who need me. A husband who needs me present. A God that needs me to study his word and spread the Good News to the world. Can there be more hours in the day???

If you are feeling overwhelmed and have 649372939 things you need to do.. you are not alone. and I’m here to tell you it’s okay! It won’t always feel like this. YOU GOT THIS.

Side note; the podcast I follow and listen to regularly posted this and I just listened to it. And HOW fitting is it?? Give yourself grace. I want y’all to listen to it if you are struggling with anything right now.

In other news, I’m going to be starting this awesome exercise and meal program next week (hopefully). Its included free with the company I get my health supplements from so I am excited about all the perks with no extra cost. That definitely takes a weight off of me. Cause who can really afford anything extra these days.

I think I’m done with my rant.. for now!

Anyone interested in doing this 12 week workout plan with me? It’s always easier (and funner) when you have an accountability partner.

Love you guys, thanks for sticking with me. Next posts will be better I promise!

Leave the dishes.

Leave the dishes.

It can be so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of every day life. The wake up, work, come home, dinner, prepare for the next day, sleep, repeat. It gets monotonous and repetitive. Where’s the fun? It’s important to find the joy in each day.

We are not put on this beautiful earth to just do chores every day. Do we all aspire to have a clean, organized space? Of course. Is there constant flow of dirty clothes, dishes, and trash? Yep.

BUT we need to take the take to enjoy life. When your kid(s) ask to play with you, I hope you say yes more than you say no.

Leave the dishes. Play superhero’s, or princesses. Go outside and explore, play in the dirt. Make your kids smile and laugh and show them the good parts of life.

Leave the dishes. Go on a date with your significant other, or go shopping with a good friend. Take the time to let go and remember the good.

Having a clean living space makes my brain happy, don’t get me wrong! And who knows, I might be the only person that has a hard time letting go of the cleaning sometimes and just relax and enjoy friends and family. If not, I’m here to tell you you are NOT alone.

“Always be joyful.”
‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

https://bible.com/bible/116/1th.5.16.NLT

Notice it says “always be joyful” not always be cleaning or always stress about chores.

“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭17‬:‭22‬ ‭NLT‬‬

https://bible.com/bible/116/pro.17.22.NLT

I hope y’all have a great day, and leave the dishes.

Mom must-haves! The things you don’t think about!

Mom must-haves! The things you don’t think about!

New mom? About to be a mom? About to add another little to the mix? Let’s talk about some must-haves for those first few months with your bundle of joy.

Haakaa

You have probably heard of the manual breast pump the haakaa. Super simple, easy to use AND clean. I’ve used it for both babies and it gives me that freezer stash we all love. At least three times throughout the day I would put it on the side that my baby was not feeding off of to collect the milk. I would put it all in the fridge and at the end of the day I combined it and put it in a baggie in the freezer. No extra pumping or time plugged into a wall. Check it out here!

Baby Carrier

My second child is needy and loves to be held. Having a baby carrier is a good way to be able to get some things done as well as make your baby content. I have a fabric one as well as a more structured one. The structured one here has lasted through two kids and my husband likes to wear it which is a plus!

This baby wrap is awesome. It is very simple to put on. Both of these are very affordable and durable!

Baby Tracker App

As a nurse, I like to document- one of my many habits. With a baby tracking app, it can keep up for you when you last fed the baby, what You fed them, how much, how long. It also can help you track sleep, wet diapers, and weights among other things. This helps me to find patterns and anticipate what my baby wants or needs at certain times. We do not have set schedules at home and feed on demand, but it is helpful to tell the daycare the schedule they have gotten into. I use Baby Tracker app. It’s simple and has everything on one page.

Cleaning Supplies

I use Medela Micro-Steam Bags almost daily. You put a much as you can fit into the bag with two ounces of water and stick in the microwave. Your stuff is sanitized in 90 seconds. I use it for pump parts, baby bottles, pacifiers, you name it. No boiling a pot of water and having to remember how long your stuff has been in it, having to fish it out of super hot water, and being worried your kids are going to get burned while you’re doing it.

Along with the bags, Quick Wipes are awesome! You can quickly clean pump parts in between sessions when at work or sometimes I use them as an extra clean before or after soap and water if I’m not sterilizing that day.

I have SO many more things to share with y’all. I hope y’all can find something that helps you in this. And I would be happy to explain more in depth about any of these products.

Thanks for stopping by!! Xoxox Lindsay
