Never stop working on yourself

Never stop working on yourself

Never stop working on yourself.

Physically, mentally, spiritually.

I know personally the past year has been a year of tremendous growth!

I’ve faced obstacles that no one should have to battle, but those obstacles have become easier by growing closer to God.

Every day I choose to focus on the things I am grateful for and what ways can I grow.

So, set those goals, surround yourself with positivity, seek out new experiences and challenges, and don’t forget to celebrate along the way!

Treat yo’self

Treat yo’self

During motherhood we have been trained to put ourselves and our health LAST.

We literally go through the hardest thing, making a whole human being, and are expected to put all of our wants and needs after everyone else’s.

That is doable for a little while, but not sustainable.

How are we expected to take care of tiny humans if we don’t take care of ourselves regularly?

I don’t mean just a shower alone or going to the grocery store by yourself.

I mean doing a self evaluation on your physical, emotional, and spiritual necessities and doing what you need to do.

It’s a hard lesson to learn and I want to help y’all learn it way before I did!!

So, first easy step is to close your eyes and think about one thing that would help you that you haven’t been able to do since beginning your mom role, or haven’t been able to do nearly enough.

Is it a trip to the gym? Pedicure? Coffee with a friend? A date with your spouse? Appointment with your counselor? Splurge on some health supplements or a new outfit? Buying your favorite protein powder instead of the crap at the stores to save a buck? There’s no wrong answer. the only wrong answer is doing nothing.

Second step is a little harder. What can you do to make this happen? Asking a grandparent to watch the kids for a bit? Hire a babysitter? Look for a gym with a kids zone? Get creative in order to make it happen!

I would love to bounce ideas around with you to help you to reach your goal. I know sometimes when things get crazy, everything seems impossible and overwhelming. I can help talk things through with you.

However you are feeling, you are not alone. Drop a comment below with your one ☝️ thing you would like to do or “need some help” if you need help figuring it out.

Writers block(ed) by life

My head isn’t really in it (this blog) this week.

Because life.

Because I’m a full time working mom with a baby that still gets up every 2 hours at night.

I’m tired, I’m spread thin, and I’m just barely making it.

Laundry needs to be put away, dishes done, toys picked up, etc etc etc. The list of things to do is always there, it’s just a bit longer than usual right now.

I’m currently writing this while nursing my daughter. There’s always something to do. So this page has to go to the back burner. I have tiny humans who need me. A husband who needs me present. A God that needs me to study his word and spread the Good News to the world. Can there be more hours in the day???

If you are feeling overwhelmed and have 649372939 things you need to do.. you are not alone. and I’m here to tell you it’s okay! It won’t always feel like this. YOU GOT THIS.

Side note; the podcast I follow and listen to regularly posted this and I just listened to it. And HOW fitting is it?? Give yourself grace. I want y’all to listen to it if you are struggling with anything right now.

In other news, I’m going to be starting this awesome exercise and meal program next week (hopefully). Its included free with the company I get my health supplements from so I am excited about all the perks with no extra cost. That definitely takes a weight off of me. Cause who can really afford anything extra these days.

I think I’m done with my rant.. for now!

Anyone interested in doing this 12 week workout plan with me? It’s always easier (and funner) when you have an accountability partner.

Love you guys, thanks for sticking with me. Next posts will be better I promise!

His name is Jesus

His name is Jesus

I want to give all the glory to God. He has pulled me and my family through everything and helped me to become stronger in the process.

So, I honor Him in everything I do- including this blog!

It doesn’t have to be extravagant or elaborate.. it just needs to be for God. I am still figuring out which direction this website will go. I do know I want to help others and share things to help guide people through life the best I can. As a nurse, I am hardwired to help others, so I’m going to build on that and see where we end up! I’m very excited.

There was a song that came through my car the other day called I Still Believe By: Bethel Music & Brian Johnson.

I immediately loved everything about this song. It spoke to me when I needed it the most.

“You’ve never given up on me…. the world may say where is your God? We will say he’s right here with us.”

I Still Believe by Bethel Music & Brian Johnson

Those moments when God speaks to you and gives you the words or direction you need at the exact right time truly gives me chills and puts me in awe. When you think He’s not listening to you, think again. He’s not some piece of wood, stone, etc. like false idols/gods. He is living and all around us wherever we go.

Even when I strayed away from God, he was still in the bleachers cheering me on and waiting for me to come back to him. He IS and ALWAYS will be there for each and every one of us.

He never gives up on us, so don’t give up on Him.

Hope Always. Wait what??

Hope Always. Wait what??

When I was 16 I was dying to get a tattoo. I made up a rule for myself: Pick a tattoo and if I still want it six months down the road then I’ll get it. So that’s what I did.

What did I get? A Bible verse. I thought it was a good, safe choice. I grew up Christian, love God, and my mom probably wouldn’t mind signing off on something like that versus a playboy bunny or the like.

“But I will keep on hoping for your help; I will praise you more and more.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭71:14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Hope Always. Psalms 71:14” cute right? Inspirational even.

Fast forward 11 years. I still love my tattoo. The difference is it has more meaning to me now.

When I got the tattoo at 16, I was not going to church, not reading my Bible, and not doing anything to strengthen my faith. I guess you could say I had strayed away from the right path. It almost feels like I was a fraud.

In the past year, I have rejoined the path for Jesus. I am baptized, plugged into a local church, and living my life for God.

Every day I am thankful that I was brought back to live a life honoring God every day. So it only made sense to dig into this verse that I got inked to really understand it.

I encourage you to read Psalms chapters 71. It has some great stuff in it.

God doesn’t hold grudges. He loves all of us endlessly.
